| 04/12/2009 TUI to use Malta as home port
TUI Cruises will use Malta as its Mediterranean port of departure for its 7-day cruises during the 2011 season, from May to November.
On its “butterfly cruise schedule”, Mein Schiff will call at the ports of Piraeus (Athens), Kusadasi in Turkey, Mykonos, Catania on Sicily as well as Civitavecchia (Rome), Livorno, Monte Carlo and Ajaccio on Corsica.
“Having Valletta as the port of departure gives us the opportunity of having a quite exceptional schedule,” said Richard Vogel, chief executive of TUI Cruises, explaining the choice of base port.
TUI Cruises is the only German cruise company to offer 2 different routes, one in the eastern Mediterranean and one in the western.
